Training a Priority for Sector Members Over the Summer
Coalition training continued for members of the Rockville Centre Coalition for Youth over a busy summer. Members from 5 of the 12 sectors attended the mid-year CADCA training in July, including two members of the RVC Police Department, and representatives from the PTA, the RVC Youth Council, the RVC Lions Club, the RVC Chamber of Commerce, in addition to Coalition staff. Coalition sector reps also attended the week-long Youth2Youth training, and the final week of the Coalition Academy training seminar. The Coalition also funded RVC Police training, including ARIDE training, and TIPS training.
RVC Coalition Partners with RVC Police for Drug Take Back Day
The gateway to prescription drug abuse by teens is often their parents or even grandparents medicine cabinet. Prescription opioid medicine may have been useful for an adult's back operation, or other medical treatment, but represents a dangerous entry into addiction for a curious teen.
